Dignity, the quality of being worthy of honour or respect.
This was the ‘theme word’ for the graduation. We Year 6s are learning and trying to live by this word. The Year 6 Graduation was one of the main highlight moments for some of the students this year. It was the day the 2018 Year 6s graduated from primary school and are soon going off into high school. Our evening started off like this.
Most Year 6s had decided to take pictures before the graduation started so they arrived early. For those who were waiting, there was finger food and drinks while you ‘mingled’ with other guests. The ceremony started at 6:30 PM, the seats filling up. Mrs Davis started the ceremony by welcoming everyone who attended. Next, the Emmanuel School Song was beautifully sung by Mr Travis Fitch and his son, Banjo. Mr Steven was then asked to open in prayer. Mr Cruz then gave a small speech to us Year 6s. Then it was announced that Year 6P was to graduate. We were presented with a certificate and a Bible. Each and every student was described with a positive trait. The students one by one graduated, Mr Pirie and their parent/s beside them. After all of Year 6P graduated and went back to their seat, we were presented with our camp video, edited by Mr Pirie and Mr B-Rad. Then Mrs Davis announced that Year 6G will graduate. The same routine happened, only with Mr G as the teacher. After all of Year 6G graduated, we watched another performance, only this time, Mr Sutanto and his daughter, Angelica sang a very lovely song. The song was Known by Tauren Wells. We were then asked to stand on stage. Bible verses were read to us by Ellie and Makur. Mrs Davis then officially announced us as the 2018 Year 6 Graduates. Then we were prayed for by Pastor Terry. After that, there was applauding and cheering from the audience and the photographer taking pictures. After we sat down in our seats, Pastor Paul closed in prayer.
The ceremony was over, and the students had time to say their hellos and goodbyes to extended family and siblings. All the students and their parent/s then headed to the foyer for supper.
As the graduating students and their parents entered the room, we were amazed with how beautiful it looked.
The theme colour was green. The plates and utensils were laid out neatly, there were fancy decorations on the tables and there were beautiful fairy lights hanging around the room. Every person had their own beautifully decorated name tag, but the graduates also had a small laminated note. Attached to it was a gum leaf from our school! A few of the high schoolers helped serve the drinks and food.
Our MC for the night was Mr Hayward. He opened in prayer and we started the supper. During the night we had a few songs sung by Mr Fitch, and Angelika and her dad. We also had a small speech from Mr G and a few words of thanks. Mr Pirie prepared a power point and a speech for us. We were also presented with a slideshow, mainly photos from all the big events this year such as student councilor camp, masquerade, camp and our excursion to Laser Blaze. During all of this the helpers handed out our main course, pork, mashed potato and gravy. It was delicious! For those who didn’t like pork, they were served chicken instead. We had a few laughs during the night and we were eventually served dessert. It was a piece of chocolate cake, iced neatly and sprinkled with powdered sugar. It also came along with a pink macaroon. It was perfect!
The night ended, and Mr Steven closed in prayer, asking the parents to place their hand on their child(ren)’s shoulder before he prays.
It as a fun and enjoyable night that went perfectly. The food was amazing, the items were beautifully performed and basically the whole night was perfect!
Thank you for all those who helped in any way to make this such a special night.
