Principal’s message

Welcome From The Principal

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy  and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8 (NIV)

Principal – Gary Harris

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Emmanuel Christian Community School! At our School we believe that every child is precious and unique, with individual gifts and talents from God, and born with a special purpose in life!

This website is a window into our school community, which reflects the energy and excitement of the School and our very special culture.

We are part of the ministry of the Girrawheen Baptist Church, who over 37 years ago had the vision to step out in faith and establish a distinctly Christian School.

Our vision, that through the teaching of God’s Word we will bring people to Christ and help them to grow in Him, is founded in Matthew 28:19-20. Emmanuel Christian Community School is a place of quality teaching and learning excellence, which honours Christ and prepares students for life. The aim of our School, together with Home, Church and Community activities, is to train the whole person through instruction, example and experience. We believe this is to be done in the light of the teaching of God’s Word and with the spiritual maturity and effective membership of the Body of Christ of the ministry team of the School.

Today, God has blessed the vision and trust that the founding families had in Him. From a humble beginning of 21 students in 1982, and under the Godly leadership of Mr Pedro Cruz who served as Principal from 1988, the school is now a dynamic Kindergarten to Year 11 School, with over 600 students. We are pleased to announce that Senior Secondary has been offered for the first time; with the commencement of Year 11 in 2019, progressing to Year 12 in 2020.

Our School name, Emmanuel ‘God with us‘ is a reflection of the Christian faith in which we are founded on and the daily experience of our community. In His strength, we continue to be a community that is changing and equipping young people to serve God, today and into the future. Through both the academic and co-curricular programs, our students are encouraged to pursue excellence in all they do. By participating in a rigorous, challenging and engaging curriculum, as well as a range of co-curricular programs, a student at Emmanuel Christian Community School can access opportunity – the opportunity to learn, the opportunity to develop, the opportunity to serve, the opportunity to grow and the opportunity to excel. These opportunities help children develop their personal faith and so build the necessary skills to be successful in life, no matter what pathway God may lead them.

Staff at Emmanuel Christian Community School are passionate Christian educators, committed to the ministry of the school. Quality instruction, based in a Christian worldview, is producing healthy academic results and growth in student learning. Our annual report reflects exciting progress in student achievement across the academic spectrum. Alongside this, we have a high commitment to promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people. We seek to provide a loving and caring Christian environment.

We are thrilled to have a newly built Primary campus with modern, high quality facilities. Our Secondary campus is experiencing an exciting refurbishment, and development will be seen over the next several years as we cater for specialist programs and ATAR and VET pathways in Senior Secondary.

It is very pleasing that high interest is regularly shown in our School. Prospective parents enquire about places available on a daily basis and these enquiries continue throughout the year for all year levels. These come from local families, families looking to move into the area and also families from much further afield. Through these encounters we gain many positive comments about Emmanuel Christian Community School and information which clearly indicates that our learning environment and programs are held in high regard. Our staff and students strive to be a shining example of Christ, who is at the very heart of our amazing school!

I invite you to visit us and experience the unique culture of Emmanuel Christian Community School! It will be my pleasure to arrange a personal tour for you and your family.

God bless

Gary Harris
